sustainability

One of Capital Fashion Week's goals is to put in place incentives that will yield sustainable and equitable production of apparel and accessories in the Center-West region of Brazil. Local factories are aware of the social and environmental implications in all production stages.

Within this concept, CFW has developed concrete actions to work as incentives for businesses, artisans and designers. One of the proposals is recycling waste material from fashion production and transforming them into a source of raw material to be used as a means to generate revenue for less fortunate communities.

In the last edition of 2008 part of the assembly of the event was done by Cooperative and Recyclable Material Collectors of the Federal District and Outskirts Central. Besides that, experimental workshops showing how to make products from residue took place. During the four days of CFW, students under supervision distributed promotional material on environmental education.
